Carzen is a new site that offers great tools to help you whittle down the field of automotive choices and options and get introduced to the perfect car for you.  If you don’t buy cars that often and don’t keep up with the major brands’ design changes and the latest features, Carzen will be a huge help to you.   It’s user interface is easy to understand and fun to use.  We hope more sites follow Carzen’s lead in other categories. 

To begin your journey through Carzen, start with the “Car Consult” section located on the homepage.  From there, Carzen will guide you through various options (many of which you probably wouldn’t have considered on your own).  Select the kind of car you want - Sedan, Coupe, Truck, etc. and the price range.   That is basic to every car site.  Where Carzen offers something different is when you click ‘next’ . . . Care.com is a good site to visit to find out the going rates for various household services providers in your area.  The site has listings for babysitters, nannys, petsitters, tutors, housekeepers and other care providers.  Use it to locate and hire a service provider for your needs or use it to figure out how much you should be paying for these services.  For this blog post, we’re going to focus on how to use Care.com to do the latter. When gas prices were rising dramatically, a few websites popped up to help drivers find the cheapest gas in their neighborhood.  Now that gas prices are falling, its still fun to visit these sites to see just how cheap gas has become (and how quickly!).  One of our favorites is GasBuddy. 

GasBuddy’s homepage greets the user with a variety of options to explore the latest in gas prices.  Click on a state in the map and you will be directed to a localalized version of their site which has detailed gas prices for your area.  The landing page can be a bit overwhelming to navigate; but, here are a few tips that will probably get you the information you need. ShippingSidekick - Compare Shipping Rates Before Sending Your Package

ShippingSidekick is a site where users can easily compare shipping rates from all the major shipping companies - all at the same time.  An especially useful tool during the Holiday Season, ShippingSidekick’s shipping comparison tool guides the user to input the “from/to”, weight and dimensions of their package in an easy to use widget interface.  Once the information is entered, users are directed to a table that shows shipping rates from the US Postal Service, UPS, FedEx and DHL.  Rates are available for multiple delivery times and dates.  Clicking on a specific rate reveals more detailed information behind the rate.  So, is ShippingSidekick useful from a price transparency perspective? Want to know if your getting paid fairly?  Want to know if worklife at your competitor is as blissful as it seems to be?   Then head over to Glassdoor, which offers an insider’s look at salaries and worklife at major companies.  The site is comprised of two main sections - “Salaries” and “Ratings & Reviews.”  The salary and review information is supplied anonymously by the working “community-at-large,” which consists of former employees in most cases.  Given that the site relies on user-generated content, how useful is it?
